December's theme -

Works of Art

December is a time of celebration and giving. This is a perfect month for involving friends in doing good deeds and creating holiday magic through art. Cub Scouts use their artistic abilities to create holiday decorations, gifts, or cards. This artwork might be put on display in nursing homes, in churches, schools, or homes, and at the pack meeting or at a meeting of the chartered organization. Boys can make cards and ornaments and share them with residents of a local nursing or retirement home, children's hospital, or community center and do a "Good Turn for America." Boys can discover different forms of art, write poems, attend a musical or performing art show, or visit a local art museum. Works of art can become gifts for family members. The Academic belt loop or pin in Art or Music could be worked on in conjunction with these projects

Camping Trip Fun

The Kids all had a good time at the Campfire Circle meeting on the 20th.  We all listened to stories, sang songs, and warmed by the fire.  Afterward, the kids enjoyed a snack before embarking on a weekend camping trip.

Webster Lodge at Pine Hill Campground proved to be an exciting spot for some Scout adventure, and all the boys claimed a bunk and had a great time.

Halloween Party was Awesome!

(pictures are up if you're interested)

We had a great turnout for Friday night's Halloween Party and Pack Meeting!  Thank you so much to all the parents and children who could make it, and an especially big THANK YOU to everyone who chipped in, brought snacks, and helped run the show!

During the Pack Meeting, our Tiger Cubs earned their Immediate Recognition Tiger Totems and new parents stepped up to be their Den and Assistant Den Leaders; thank you Mike and Nicole DeBeaumont Arde Johnson also went from being the Assistant Wold Den Leader, to being the new Wolf Den Leader, thank you Arde.  We were all told of the new upcoming events, such as our Campout in a couple of weeks.

After the Pack Meeting, all of the kids (siblings, too) took part in a mummy wrapping contest, exploring the mysteries of Gooey Gross Stuff, got creative with some spooky crafts, and had a blast playing some Halloween games and winning prizes.  And after all that fun, we all enjoyed some cupcakes, candy, snacks and juice provided by our wonderful parents!

Thanks again to everyone for making this a screaming fun time!  We are very happy that the Halloween Party could be rescheduled and that everyone came together to make it such a success!

 The Edelman Planetarium

at Rowan University, Glassboro

The Planetarium is closer than Philadelphia; you can see the stars without the trip over the bridge and awful parking issues!  The Edelman Planetarium is located right in Glassboro at Rowan University.  From Dec 5th to 20th, the Planetarium will be running shows Saturday night; "Season of Light," at 7 and 8:30 ( 3pm on Sundays ) and the laser light show, "Holiday Magic" at 7:45 Saturdays and 3:45 Sundays.  There will also be a show geared more toward younger children called "The Secret of The Cardboard Rocket" on January 17 th at 3pm.

These shows could help your scout toward achieving his Astronomy Belt Loop or Pin.

Admission is inexpensive, at $5 for Adults, and $3 for children.  Check it out!

Works of Art

December's theme is Works of Art, so why not go view some?  Visit an art museum or library with an art display, or take out some books on art.  The Philadelphia Museum of Art has a huge selection of art, sculpture, and ancient armor.

The University of Pennsylvania also has a wonderful art museum.  They have an amazing Egyptian exhibit!

Also, Rowan University often has art exhibitions.  Visit art, view art, make art!

You ought to be in pictures!

We would like to include more photos from our events on this web page.  Please be sure you have turned in a Publicity Form.

Have you earned a Belt Loop or Pin?

Belt Loops and Pins can be earned for things you are doing outside of Cub Scouts.  The requirements must be met while you are a Cub (they can't be met retroactively).  To see if you have met the requirements for a Pin or Loop go to our Uniform page and click on Academics and Sports.

Coming soon...
