To all of those who build bridges for our youth...
THE BRIDGE BUILDER
By WILL ALLEN DROMGOOLE
An old man, going a lone highway,
Came at the evening cold and gray,
To a chasm, vast and deep and wide,
Through which was flowing a sullen tide.
The old man crossed in the twilight dim-
That sullen stream had no fears for him;
But he turned, when he reached the other side,
And built a bridge to span the tide.
"Old man," said a fellow pilgrim near,
"You are wasting strength in building here.
Your journey will end with the ending day;
You never again must pass this way.
You have crossed the chasm, deep and wide,
Why build you the bridge at the eventide?"
The builder lifted his old gray head.
"Good friend, in the path I have come," he said,
"There followeth after me today
A youth whose feet must pass this way.
This chasm that has been naught to me
To that fair-haired youth may a pitfall be.
He, too, must cross in the twilight dim;
Good friend, I am building the bridge for him."

“Every Cub Scout deserves qualified, trained leaders”
October and November are training months! There are many opportunities to complete required training. All leaders require the following training:

Youth Protection (available on-line at My Scouting)
Scout Leader Essentials
Introduction to Cub Scouting
Cub Scout Leader Position Specific
Training can be taken over several sessions (at evening classes) or in one day. Click here for the White Horse District training schedule.
New Leader Essentials is now available on-line
When you click on the link to New Leader Essentials you will be sent to a New Leader Essentials course that is available from the Cleveland Council of the Boy Scouts of America. This course is not part of the courses offered by the BSA On-Line training center and when you complete the course your training records at SNJC will not be automatically updated.
To receive course completion it is important that you follow the instructions at the end of the course and complete your personal information. That information will be sent to the Cleveland Council who will then send you an email that you have completed the course. In order to update your Southern New Council training records, a copy of that email must be sent to the council so that a completion card can be sent to you

All leaders (and parents) are invited to attend the District Roundtable meetings. Each meeting begins with an informal gathering session, followed by a Scouting appropriate opening and general announcements. Announcements may cover District and Council events, news and updates from the National Office, awards and recognition from the Commissioner staff, guest presentations, and/or special surprises. Coffee and cake/snacks are often available. After the general session, there are break-out sessions -- Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts & Venture Scouts -- into separate classrooms where the meeting's agenda is then more directed toward that specific group.
Roundtable is scheduled for:
Second Tuesdays (usually) of each month, 7-8:30 PM Glen Landing Middle School (in the library), 85 Little Gloucester Road, Gloucester Township, NJ (Sept. - May)
Pine Hill Scout Reservation (June & August; no meeting in July)
